The 9th Congressional District

Carol Ronen was elected Democratic Committeewoman of the 9th Congressional District in 2008, and has since shown unwavering support for a progressive agenda. Carol was instrumental in mobilizing volunteers for Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and tirelessly recruited volunteers to go to swing states for President Obama’s first election. She is now one of the leaders of Illinois’ forceful effort to elect Hillary Clinton as our first woman President.

As Democratic Committeewoman, Carol is a member of the Illinois Democratic Party Central Committee, which slates statewide candidates. Here, she brings her progressive point of view to the table, slating real Progressive Democratic candidates.

Ninth Congressional District Committeeman William A. Marovitz served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1974 to 1980 and the Illinois State Senate from 1980-1993. While Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Bill was the leading proponent for tough gun control legislation in Illinois and recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. In addition to his leadership on behalf of gun control, he authored and passed the Hate Crimes law in Illinois, which prosecutes those who commit crimes based on race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.

Since his retirement from the State Senate, Marovitz has continued to be actively involved in government and civic affairs. He also serves on the board of directors of many civic organizations, including the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau and the Gene Siskel Film Center of the Art Institute of Chicago.
